In short

What is an Asian Cup prediction league?

An Asian Cup prediction league — also called a predictor, a pick'em or a tournament pool — runs for the whole tournament: every member predicts the score of every match before kickoff and earns points for accuracy. Most points after the final wins.

It is not betting: no money at stake, no odds, no cash prizes. The prize is the leaderboard among people you actually know — which is why friend groups, families and offices open one for every big tournament.

This edition is in Saudi Arabia for the first time, with holders Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Iran and Australia among the 24. BeTeam is the free app that runs the league for you, instead of a spreadsheet somebody has to update or a group chat where the picks get lost.

The draw

Asian Cup 2027 groups

Six groups of four. The top two in each group and the four best third-placed teams go through to the round of 16.

Group A

Saudi Arabia · Kuwait · Oman · Palestine

Group B

Uzbekistan · Jordan · Bahrain · North Korea

Group C

Iran · China · Syria · Kyrgyzstan

Group D

Australia · Iraq · Tajikistan · Singapore

Group E

South Korea · United Arab Emirates · Vietnam · Yemen

Group F

Japan · Qatar · Thailand · Indonesia

With four of the six third-placed teams going through, the last round stays open in most groups — and both matches in a group kick off at the same time, so nobody knows the other score before their prediction locks.

Scoring

Fair points for a short tournament

The default rewards precision without letting one lucky guess decide the whole tournament. The organizer can adjust the weights before the opener.

Knockouts: each round doubles the last

With stage-increasing points switched on, the round of 16 counts ×1, quarter-finals ×2, semi-finals ×4 and the final ×8 — nobody is out of it after the groups, and the final really decides the table. Knockout picks are judged on the result after extra time; a penalty shootout doesn't count, so a match settled on penalties scores as a draw.

For the office

An Asian Cup prediction league at work

A national-team tournament in January gets the whole office involved, even the people who never follow a league. In the Gulf the 13:30 and 16:30 kickoffs fall in working hours, and the debate afterwards is half the fun. One league for the company or one per team, a single link in the work chat — and no money, so it fits company policy.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

When and where is the Asian Cup 2027?

In Saudi Arabia, from Thursday 7 January to Friday 5 February 2027, across eight stadiums in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar. The opener is Saudi Arabia vs Palestine in Riyadh at 20:00 Saudi time, and the final is also in Riyadh. How do I run an Asian Cup prediction league without betting?

Create a private league in BeTeam, choose the AFC Asian Cup, and send the invite link to your group chat or office. All 51 matches import automatically, everyone predicts before kickoff, predictions lock and points are calculated with no one doing admin. No betting and no real money at any stage.

What's the best free app for an Asian Cup prediction league?

BeTeam — a free iOS and Android app for private prediction leagues. Create a league for the Asian Cup 2027, invite friends with one link, everyone predicts before kickoff, and the app scores a live leaderboard automatically, with winner and top-scorer questions. In English and fully in Arabic. No real money.
