A free NBA office pool — for coworkers, with no money in it
BeTeam is a free app for running an NBA office pool: coworkers predict the score of each game, picks lock at tip-off, and a leaderboard updates itself all season. There is no money in it — no buy-in, no cash prizes, no payouts — so it stays HR-safe. Share one link in Slack or Teams before opening night, October 20.
iOS & Android · about 5 minutes to set up · no card, no deposit
- One invite link in the work chat — no company account, no payment details
- Points for the winner and the margin — nobody has to guess 112–108 exactly
- The schedule imports itself; scoring and the leaderboard are automatic
The short version
What an NBA office pool is
An NBA office pool is a season-long game between coworkers. Everyone predicts NBA games before tip-off and earns points for being right. A leaderboard shows who reads the league best.
Classic office pools run on a spreadsheet and a cash pot. A BeTeam pool runs in an app and has no money at all. The prize is the top of the table — and the right to talk about it on Monday.
Setting it up
How to set up an NBA office pool in BeTeam (5 minutes)
You need one organizer and one link. Nobody needs a company account, single sign-on or payment details.
-
Step 1 · 1 minuteDownload BeTeam on the App Store or Google Play. It is free.
-
Step 2 · 2 minutesCreate a league and pick the NBA. Name it after the team (for example “Finance NBA Pool 2026-27”). The schedule loads automatically.
-
Step 3 · 1 minuteShare one link in Slack or Teams. Coworkers join with the invite link or code. If you want the pool closed to outsiders, the organizer can also add a password.
-
Step 4 · 1 minutePaste the pool rules below into the channel, so everyone knows how points work before opening night.
Each league has its own group chat, so the trash talk can live next to the standings instead of flooding the work channel.

NBA Office Pool 2026-27 — the rules
- What you predict: the final score of each NBA game.
- Points: 10 for the exact score. 3 for the right winner with the margin in the same band (1–5, 6–10, 11–15, 16–20 or 21+ points). 1 for the right winner otherwise. 0 for the wrong winner. There are no draws in the NBA.
- Deadline: you can change a pick until tip-off. Once the game starts, the pick is locked.
- Missed a game? The app fills in a random score so you stay on the board. An auto-filled pick scores 1 point only for an exact match, and 0 for anything else.
- Ties on the leaderboard: most exact scores wins (auto-filled picks never count), then most close calls, then most correct results and questions. Still level after that? The place is shared.
- Money: none. The app uses virtual chips with no cash value. If the office wants a prize, it is decided outside the app.
- Season: from opening night, Tuesday, October 20, 2026. The regular season ends April 11, 2027, and the playoffs start April 17, 2027.

At work
Why no money matters in an office pool
Nothing for HR to approve
No buy-in, no pot and no payouts means nobody collects or holds anyone else's cash. The pool is a game, not a side bet run through the work chat.
More people say yes
Coworkers who would never put $20 into a pot will still join a free game. A bigger pool means more of the office talks about the same games.
The prize can still be real
Want a trophy, a team lunch or a parking spot for the winner? Decide it outside the app. The app only keeps score.
No commissioner chasing picks
Picks lock at tip-off and results are scored automatically. The organizer does not have to remind anyone, enter scores or settle arguments.
A tip from us
A weekly rhythm that keeps an NBA pool alive
Each NBA team plays 82 regular-season games — 1,230 games in total. Nobody in an office will predict all of them. A simple habit helps: agree to always predict the national-TV games, the ones most people actually watch.
- Wednesday: ESPN games.
- Friday: Prime Video games. On NBA Cup group nights (Fridays from October 30), these are the Cup games.
- Sunday and Tuesday: NBC games.
This is a habit for your group, not an app setting — BeTeam loads every game and does not sort them by broadcaster. Anyone can still predict more games.
The organizer can also flag a big game as a Super Game before it starts, which doubles its points. The NBA Cup final on December 11 is a natural choice.

If you want everyone to predict scores and follow the whole season together, that is what BeTeam is built for. More options are in the best NBA pick'em apps roundup.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free app for an NBA office pool?
BeTeam is a free iOS and Android app built for private pools like an NBA office pool. The organizer creates a league, picks the NBA and shares one link. Everyone predicts game scores before tip-off, and the leaderboard updates itself all season. There is no money involved.
Is an NBA office pool gambling?
Not on BeTeam. Nobody pays to join, nobody stakes money and nobody is paid out. Members compete for points and a place on the leaderboard. If your office wants a prize, award it outside the app.
How do I set up an NBA pick'em pool for coworkers?
Download BeTeam, create a league and pick the NBA. The schedule loads automatically. Share the invite link in Slack or Teams, then paste the pool rules into the channel. It takes about five minutes.
How does scoring work in a BeTeam NBA pool?
You predict the final score. You get 10 points for the exact score, 3 points for the right winner with the margin in the same band (1–5, 6–10, 11–15, 16–20 or 21+ points), and 1 point for the right winner otherwise. A wrong winner scores 0.
What happens if a coworker forgets to make a pick?
Picks lock at tip-off. If someone misses a game, the app fills in a random score so they stay on the leaderboard, but an auto-filled pick scores 1 point only for an exact match and 0 for anything else.
Is there a public NBA league I can join?
Yes. A free public NBA league runs in the BeTeam app, and anyone can join it from beteamapp.com/join/I3YK0FZ6. It is a good way to try the game before you start a private pool for your office.
